What others are saying about this new book…

Honoring a sacred presence among us

Fascinating.  Easy read prompting deep, enriching thoughts.  Intriguing, relaxing and inspirational.  One of Page’s many captivating expressions in the book was from a mountain overlook in Virginia where he wrote, “…where God’s beauty is the choir and His silence is our sermon.”

-- Rev. Tom Lacy

As I read Page Highfill's book, I kept having flashbacks to the Thin Places in my own life.  I have stood at my parents' graves on a green hillside in Tennessee.  I have stood before a stone cross in the coliseum in Rome. I have stood at the end of the rail line on the selection Platform in Auschwitz  -- Thin Places all.

 Read this book.  It will make you think.  It will make you remember.  It will set your spirit free to imagine.

-- Roberta M. Damon PhD.

I recently went to Asheville, NC and as I stood on the hillside near THE COVE, I suddenly realized I was seeing God’s creation at its finest right here in the United States.  Thin Places are throughout the world, I know, and I have experienced many.

After reading this book, my travels now will be richer because I have a better understanding of Thin Places and more importantly, how to enjoy them to the fullest.  Thanks Page, for writing this book.

Thin Places - where the veil

between this world and

another becomes thin.

Now, unlock the engaging powers of Thin Places

You will discover in this book...

· How long-term impact at places can be achieved;

· How the Five Key Clues drive High Engagement;

· Why such places rarely ever need a “make-over”;

· How to measure Clue Presence at Your Places;

· How to “Seed” new Thin Places with your team.

Thin Places engage us on higher and deeper levels than ordinary places.  As described in Celtic history, they are  places where times of different eras often seem to merge; places where people feel strongly connected to a stirring sacred presence; and places people revisit again and again.

Such places are found world-wide attracting and spell-binding visitors year after year—and generating huge places benefits for their owners and occupants.  A small chapel built in the USA in 1980 has continued since then to earn more income each year from its modest tourist fees than its original cost.

 Wonder how such places can do that?

C. Page Highfill, AIA Emeritus, an Architect for 46 years, has been  chasing “Thin Places” for much of his career.  He was an invited seminar speaker for three National AIA Conventions and has made presentations at numerous University seminars and workshops across the USA.  He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the South and Southeast.  Now retired he is a writer, artist and speaker. What’s the Heart & Spirit Blog about?

God is everywhere and unchanging.  It is our perception of God which changes, fades, grows and often vanishes within today's racing pace.  Throughout history, humanity has learned paths to help us with our perceptions of God.  Examples are Holy scripture, prayer, beauty, music, ritual and service for others, all important ones we rely upon.  EnterPaths and its sister Blog, Heart & Spirit, seek to weave these paths and others into our daily lives through stories, illustrations, writings and other media to help open our hearts and spirits to receive the presence of God... which actually is already there, in each of us, waiting.

         I have learned a tremendous amount about architecture in Thin Places and now look at places with a more discerning eye.  Indeed, Page has much to say in this book that will help people better understand their world and how they can fit into it with harmony and peace.

    -- Carol McLaren

       As has been eloquently described by Page Highfill, both natural and man-made settings can be experienced as thin places and he has advanced the effective discussion of these places / spaces by proposing a tabular means of evaluating the characteristics of thin places that can provide a common ground for understanding, discussion, and perhaps, intention. In fact, he has extended the conversation about thin places in the very hope that it will help enable the intentional creation of architecture that can function in this way.

Page’s book is a great addition to the professional toolbox used in this effort because it can be used to facilitate communication about the meta-physical dimensions of design (the symbolic and the experiential) which is often left to the wayside because the discussions of the physical dimensions (the formal and the technical) are so much easier to discuss.

7-Circuit Labyrinth Floor Plan

Indoor and outdoor labyrinth pathways have been used for centuries to guide and host walking meditations. The above, designed by Page, is included in his book on Thin Places.  Note each circular path here moves users closer and closer to the prayer-center.

College & Career Choices???

I remember my high school senior year when everyone seemed to know what they wanted to do, what college and career courses to pursueWell, I didn't know any of that stuff, and I feared for my life.  Now 55 years later and retired, I sense again from our grandchildren, those same wonderings.  What should I do?  Where should I go?  I fear for them now.  Well if I were one of them in pursuit of answers, I would feel much better if I had a summary of eight new suggestions in my "iPod."  I invite you to review those eight free here: http://www.PageHighfill.com/itsyourchoice.pdf
